Develop the skills necessary to manage health communication in a variety of formats for different audiences. Discuss the major theoretical models of health communication. Analyze stakeholder needs for successful health communication and messaging. Utilize different modalities to reach audiences for communications about health and wellness. Describe strategies for effective communication of health and wellness on different platforms. Creating campaign communication messages is a creative outlet in which health communicators get to share their information and expertise on disease prevention and health promotion with the outside world. After you have selected a health communication campaign topic, identified your target audience, and outlined your intended outcome objectives, you are ready to build campaign education and promotion tools. If you choose to do so, you can use the topic from the Unit 5 Assignment for your communication campaign topic. Step 1: Complete questions #1 through #5 of the Communication Plans Worksheet on page 85 of CDC’s Health Communication Playbook: Resources to Help You Create Effective Materials (Links to an external site.). This Worksheet will help you stay on track as you develop your health communication media. Include the completed worksheet with your submission.  Step 2: You will create two (2) unique pieces of communication or messaging for your health communication campaign topic. Examples: a one-page flyer or public service announcement, newspaper article, infographic, social media page (Facebook, Twitter account with an introductory post), or other communication modality of your choosing. Build your communication on the information you outlined on the Worksheet in Step 1 above. Tailor your communication medium to your target audience and ensure information is appropriate and relevant.  This work should be original to this assignment and not a piece that has been created before. You may wish to review Table 6.3: Relationship Between Channels and Tools on page 159 of for examples of A Field Guide to Designing a Health Communication Strategy: A Resource for Health Communication Professionals (Links to an external site.) for examples of communication channels in relation to appropriate tools and activities for each type of channel.
