How Soviet communism evolved and changed in its tactics and goals throughout the Soviet period;

Thesis Statement + Outline
Throughout the semester, I have examined several central issues in modern Russian history, including thequestions of:
• Continuities and ruptures between the tsarist, Soviet, and post-Soviet periods;
• How Soviet communism evolved and changed in its tactics and goals throughout the Soviet period;
• The relationships of the tsarist, Soviet, and post-Soviet governments with non-Russian “minority” populations;
• Whether or not the tsarist, Soviet, and post-Soviet states can rightly be termed “imperialist”;
• The status of women in the tsarist, Soviet, and post-Soviet states;
• The role of science, scientists, and expertise in the Soviet and post-Soviet states.
Choose ONE of the above topics to address in your final paper (5 pages). Submit a thesis + outline (2 pages) making an argument about one of the above topics.
• Include 4-6 sources that you will use to support your argument. It’s ok to change sources when you actually write the paper, but please choose 4-6 of them you’re pretty sure will be useful.
• Sources may be those I picked.
• Cite sources at the top of the first page in Chicago-style .
• Write an argumentative thesis statement that responds to one of the above arguments. Bold it so I can find it easily!
• Include an outline. Outlines should use full topic sentences and include details below each topic sentence about which sources may be used to support which points.
•Use material from lecture to provide context. You do NOT need to cite this. Consider it general knowledge!
• An example is forthcoming. Writing it right now!
